WCC LNG office to close in Rupert

Prince Rupert Northern View | Shannon Lough | December 3 2017

Interest in the liquefied natural gas industry in Prince Rupert continues to scale back.

WCC LNG has announced that by the end of 2017 they are closing their office on First Avenue East.

“With current LNG market conditions and economic uncertainties, WCC LNG will continue to assess its proposed project schedules and plans. During this time, and throughout 2018, WCC LNG will be moving at a slower pace,” as stated in a WCC LNG email sent on Nov. 30.

The office will open for final in-person questions and comments, starting Monday, Dec. 4 and Tuesday, Dec. 5 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., as well as Dec. 6 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“WCC LNG remains interested in the development of an LNG project on Canada’s west coast and remains in the pre-application stages of the environmental assessment process,” the email said.

The project led by ExxonMobil is proposed for Lot. 444 inside Tuck Inlet and within the city limits of Prince Rupert.

Although the office is closing, ExxonMobil said that the project team be available for questions through email info@wcc-lng.ca or by calling their number (1-855-338-9931).
