Westcoast Connector Gas Transmission Project

Spectra Energy

This pipeline is a 48” diameter, 850-kilometre proposal running from the Cypress area of Northeastern BC to BG Group’s proposed LNG facility on Ridley Island. Its proposed route crosses the Babine and Nass Valleys before taking either one of two marine routes to Prince Rupert - the Nasoga Gulf route or the Kitsault route (see map below).

This proposal could be expanded to two pipelines and expects to provide an estimated 60 permanent jobs. Residents along this pipeline have identified the proposed route as a real concern, citing that it would cross several streams and rivers, including the Skeena, Kispiox, Nass, and Babine. All of these river systems are integral to salmon populations reaching the Skeena watershed.

Route:
Cypress to Ridley Island, Prince Rupert
