Brazil’s self-styled imperial prince had been hospitalized since July 6 due to obstructive lung disease.

Self-styled imperial prince of Brazil, Dom Antonio de Orleans e Bragança died this Friday (8.Nov.2024) at the age of 74. He had been hospitalized since July 6 at , in Rio de Janeiro, due to obstructive lung disease.

Antônio de Orleans e Bragança left his wife, Christine de Ligne de Orleans e Bragança. In addition to his 3 children –Rafael, Maria Gabriela and Amélia de Orleans and Bragança–, he also left 2 grandchildren.

Antonio de Orleans e Bragança is the immediate dynastic successor of his brother, the self-styled Prince Dom Bertrand de Orleans e Bragança, Head of the Imperial House of Brazil, the site of the Imperial House.

Dom Antonio was born on June 24, 1950, in Rio de Janeiro, and is the 7th of 12 children of the self-styled Prince Dom Pedro Henrique of Orleans and Bragança, and the self-styled Princess Dona Maria da Baviera of Orleans and Bragança.

He is a civil engineer graduated from the University of Barra do Piraí (current. He was also a painter and produced more than 600 watercolors. His paintings have been exhibited in the main capitals and cities of Brazil and Europe, according to the Casa Imperial do Brasil website.
