Government leader in , José Guimarães (-CE) called the impositions of a tax package with the aim of removing rights “inadmissible”, in a publication on X (formerly Twitter) this Friday (8).

“The victorious project at the polls in 2022, led by @LulaOficial, has as a priority the reduction of social inequalities and the guarantee of rights for the Brazilian people. It is unacceptable that market and media forces try to impose a fiscal package with the aim of take away rights and compromise the program for which the president was elected”, says the deputy in the post.

The disclosure of the spending package measures has been postponed more than once by the government (PT) and is awaited by the financial market. A meeting between the president and the heads of the main ministries is scheduled for 2pm this Friday.

“The government, in due course, will make the necessary corrections and changes to the programs being implemented, without compromising its commitment to the Welfare State. It will not submit to undue pressure from those who seek to weaken the government and undermine the legitimacy of the program victorious at the polls. This is an affront to the majority desire of the Brazilian people, who elected President Lula to promote the changes they consider necessary”, he concludes.
