The leader of the president’s government Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in the National Congress, senator Randolfe Rodrigues (PT-AP)stated, this Friday (8), that the fiscal cost containment package to be announced by the Executive will not affect what he called “acquired rights”,
The parliamentarian cited as an example the Bolsa Família program, the Continuous Payment Benefit (BPC) and unemployment insurance.
In an interview with GloboNewsRandolfe stated, at the same time, that it is necessary to correct any “distortions” in these programs.

The government leader also assessed that it would not be reasonable to restrict social spending without also blocking parliamentary amendments to the Budget.
Randolfe also said that the debate on the package with fiscal measures should advance this Friday, in a meeting that Lula will have with ministers in the afternoon.

The final definition of the measures that will make up the package has not yet been made and could occur this Friday. Lula scheduled a new meeting, scheduled to start at 2 pm, and the expectation is that the president will finally “pound the hammer” on the measures.
Even so, the spending cut package is unlikely to be announced this Friday because Lula first wants the measures to be presented to the presidents of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL)and the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSDB-MG). The tendency is for the official announcement to be made on Monday (11).
