With his fingers pointed to the sky, Luiz Araújo entered to train on the field at Flamengo. After almost two months recovering from a fractured cartilage in his right knee, the striker is recovered and expects to be included in the Brazilian Cup final, on Sunday, against Atlético-MG, at Arena MRV, in Belo Horizonte.
Coach Filipe Luis had already said, after the 1-0 victory over Cruzeiro, on Wednesday, in the Brasileirão, that he had hopes of counting on the striker, as he is lacking in the position with the absence of Éverton Cebolinha and Pedro , also injured. Uruguayan De la Cruz could also appear in the decision.
“There are players who, yes, involve certain risks and sacrifices, but I believe we can have the majority of the squad available,” said the coach. “I hope to be able to count on De La Cruz and Luiz Araújo, I hope they can be available on Sunday.”
Luiz Araújo underwent arthroscopy on his knee and was at risk of no longer playing during the season. Training without pain, he improves his physique to at least be in reserve against Atlético-MG, positioning himself as a more experienced option to Filipe Luís.
