Two Bahian women are competing for the position of new official narrator for the Globo channels in the reality show “Craque da Voz”, which premiered this Thursday (7). Along with eight other participants, Manuela Avena and Emanuele Pilger entered the competition for the opportunity to join the network’s sports team. The winner of the program wins a one-year contract with Globo to narrate competitions, in addition to winning cash prizes.
In the reality show, led by Galvão Bueno and Karine Alves, 10 amateur narrators, five men and five women, will have to go through the challenge of coexistence, being confined in a house without contact with the outside world. Participants will deal with tests, eliminations and interactions with celebrities. Unlike traditional programs, there is no popular vote and the judges decide who continues in the game.
Current voice of TV Bahêa, Salvadoran Manuela Avena is far from amateurism, having worked for Rádio CBN, TV Aratu, TVE and has important championships on her resume as a narrator. The journalist was the first woman to narrate a game valid for the Copa do Nordeste. The match in question was between Bahia x Confiança, in 2020.
However, this was not the first time that Avena showed female power in sports narration. During the 2018 World Cup, the Bahian was revealed to the world on the program “Narra Quem Sabe”, where she became one of three women to narrate the World Cup on Fox Sports.
With the slogan “vibra que vibra”, Manu Avena is committed to expanding his reach in the market and fighting for equal opportunities in sports storytelling. Regarding reality, the Bahian says that the main challenge is isolation. “Isolation and pressure sometimes affect me emotionally. Furthermore, I am very much a family person and I like to share ideas, so being confined will be a challenge for me,” she said.
Born in Santo Antônio de Jesus, journalist and radio host Manu Pilger is the representative of Feira de Santana on the program. It was at ‘Princesa do Sertão’, where the communicator built her professional and academic career. Currently at Rádio Povo, the radio host is also a master’s student in Communication at the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia (UFRB), where she researches female participation in sports radio in Bahia.
If anyone from Feira has already tuned in to the city’s radio, they’ve probably already heard Emanuele’s voice. The Bahian has already worked on Rádio Valença FM, Andaiá FM, Princesa FM and Band FM Feira.
The participant of the Globo reality show entered the program with braided hair. On social media, the journalist explained that choosing the hairstyle was not just an act for aesthetics. “It’s a symbol of resistance, ancestry and pride, especially for us, black women from Bahia. These braids carry stories, traditions and the memory of those who came before and paved the way”, he explained.
“This tribute is for all of us who faced challenges, broke barriers and, with great pride, raised our voices and our beauty”, he concluded. The reality show “Craque da Voz” is shown every Thursday, starting at 8:30 pm on Sportv and on Sundays on Esporte Espetacular, on TV Globo.
