He questioned General Carlos Alberto Santos Cruz, former minister of (), about the relationship between the former president’s family and Israelis who provided the , used by the (Brazilian Intelligence Agency) during the Bolsonaro government against politicians, judges and journalists.
A Sheet found that the statements of the general and his son, Caio Santos Cruz, had as their main point questions about the actions of the councilor (Republicanos-RJ), son of the former president, and his relationship with the Israelis.
One of the pieces of information collected by the PF is that members of the Bolsonaro family met with the Israelis, through Caio, even before Jair assumed the Presidency.
Caio was one of the representatives in Brazil of the Israeli company Cognyte, responsible for supplying the spy software, acquired during the government (MDB) for R$5.7 million. The son of Bolsonaro’s former minister was the target of searches in Operation Last Mile, launched by the PF in October 2023.
While Caio was asked about Carlos’ relationship with the Israelis, his father was asked about his knowledge of Bolsonaro’s intention to create a parallel Abin.
Wanted by SheetCarlos Bolsonaro, Carlos Alberto Santos Cruz and Caio Santo Cruz did not want to speak.
The testimonies of General Santos Cruz and his son took place last month, in Brasília.
The investigators also addressed a speech by Bolsonaro’s former minister Gustavo Bebianno, who died in 2020.
In an interview with TV Cultura’s Roda Viva program in March 2020, the former minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency said he had heard conversations within the government about Bolsonaro and his son Carlos’ idea of creating a parallel intelligence structure .
“One fine day, Carlos appears to me with the name of a federal delegate and three agents who would be a parallel Abin because he didn’t trust Abin”, he stated.
Bebianno said in the interview that he did not know whether Carlos’ initiative would have been implemented or not. Bolsonaro would have been instructed not to put the councilor’s idea into practice, according to him.
On January 29 of this year, Carlos was the target of Operation Last Mile searches. According to the PF, the councilor was part of the political nucleus of the so-called parallel Abin and benefited from confidential information from the agency, which was commanded by the current federal deputy (PL-RJ).
The fourth phase of Operation Last Mile, launched in July 2024, showed that members of the parallel Abin tagged Carlos Bolsonaro in false publications against senator Alessandro Vieira (MDB-RS).
According to investigators, Vieira became the target of the parallel Abin after asking for the breaking of Carlos Bolsonaro’s fiscal, banking and telematic secrecy in the Covid-19 CPI.
The PF investigation points out that the structure was used to attack the credibility of the electoral system, produce disinformation and illegally spy on authorities, such as STF ministers and senators of the Republic.
