Helio Cota Pacheco was 81 years old and died of natural causes; President of Congress will not go to P20 event

The president of the Senate, (PSD-MG), traveled to Belo Horizonte this Friday (8.Nov.2024) for his father’s wake. Helio Cota Pacheco died of natural causes in the early hours of this Friday (Nov 8), aged 81.

As a result, the president of the Senate, who holds the position of president of Congress, did not go to the closing ceremony of the (10th Summit of Presidents of Parliaments of the G20).

Pacheco’s absence was announced by the president of the Chamber, (PP-AL) during the session. Lira, however, only said that Pacheco would not “family issues”.

The information about Pacheco’s father’s death was later confirmed by the senator’s office.

“The president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco, will not participate in the closing session of the 10th Summit of Presidents of Parliaments of the G20 (P20), scheduled for this Friday (8), due to the death of his father, Mr. Helio Cota Pacheco, which occurred this morning, in Belo Horizonte.”
