According to the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico (Smer-SD), the election of the President of the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic is not a priority and the parliament is functional. The Prime Minister announced this in the discussion program Sobotné dialogy in STVR. Fico again denied that there was a crisis in the coalition. The dispute between members of parliament over Rudolf Huliak (not classified) and the chairman of the coalition Slovak National Party (SNS) Andrej Danek is an internal problem of the SNS.
Fico declared that he had not heard from Huliak that the three MPs demanded the allocation of the ministry. According to him, Huliak does not want anything and declared his support for the coalition. “The government coalition is functional, the laws are being passed in the parliament,” he declared. According to him, 79 deputies are still applying for the coalition.
According to the prime minister, the speaker of the parliament will be the person on whom all three coalition leaders agree. He refused that the election of the chairman should be held in cooperation with the opposition.
At the same time, the prime minister admitted that he had not read the lex assassination, he also said that he would not deal with ex-president Andrej Kiska. However, he considers it a shame for Slovakia that a person legally convicted of tax fraud became the president.
The Prime Minister also reiterated that if the US, under the leadership of newly elected President Donald Trump, reduces aid to Ukraine, he refuses for the European Union to take over all financial aid. He would consider it the biggest mistake. He also pointed out that the EU will have to make reforms regarding the content of individual policies. According to him, pressure on innovation will also be necessary in Europe. There is also “horror” that it cannot compete with the USA or China.
The prime minister also defended his appearance on Russian state television. “Do you feel that there is no Western propaganda?” asks Fico, who, according to his own words, wanted to show with this step that Slovakia pursues a sovereign foreign policy.
