President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) gave an interview lasting approximately 20 minutes to CNN International that was shown this Friday (8), in which it addressed crucial topics for Brazil and the world.
International analyst Lourival Sant’Anna commented during the CNN Prime Time the president’s performance, highlighting his clarity and knowledge of the issues discussed.
During the interview, Lula made a strong defense of the Amazon and the fight against deforestation. The president also emphasized the responsibilities of industrialized countries in relation to climate change and highlighted the opportunities that the energy transition represents for Brazil.
Carbon credits and multilateralism
The president cited carbon credits as one of the opportunities for the country in the energy transition scenario. Furthermore, Lula defended humanist ideas, positioning himself against war and poverty, and in favor of solidarity and multilateralism, mentioning the importance of the UN in this context.
However, Sant’Anna pointed out a “fracture” in Lula’s reasoning regarding the conflict in Ukraine.
According to him, the president was wrong to place Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky on the same level of responsibility for the war, ignoring that Russia was the invading nation.
International relations and pragmatism
Regarding relations with the United States, Lula demonstrated pragmatism and goodwill, expressing the desire to maintain a good relationship with the country, regardless of who is in power.
The president specifically mentioned the possibility of a respectful relationship with Donald Trump.
According to the analyst, the interview revealed an assertive and well-prepared Lula, capable of articulating his ideas with ease, demonstrating that he was in “excellent mental shape”.
