Meeting marks the beginning of the transfer of power; in 2020, republican did not follow suit when losing to the current president
The President of the United States, Joe Biden (Democrat), will meet with the (Republican) next Wednesday (13.Nov.2024). The traditional post-election meeting will be held in the Oval Office.
The meeting takes place 2 months before Biden leaves office and passes the presidency to Trump, who won the elections against Vice President Kamala Harris (Democrat) and will assume his second term in the White House. The meeting, part of the protocol, symbolizes the beginning of the transition of power.

Biden has already stated that he will make a peaceful transition of power with Trump. “I assured him [Trump] that I have directed my entire administration to work with your team to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition,” said the Democrat when citing Wednesday (Nov 6) to congratulate the Republican on his victory.
In 2020, Trump did not invite Biden after losing the race.
TRUMP’S VICTORY
As of 10:00 am (Brasília time) this Saturday (Nov 9), the Republican had won 301 delegates. Kamala had 226, according to counting data published by . 270 of the 538 delegates were needed to win the election in the Electoral College.
The investigation is not over yet. It remains to count the votes from the State of Arizona. The Electoral College has until December 17th to make Trump’s victory official. The result will be certified by the American Congress on January 6, 2025. The inauguration will take place on January 20.
