D23 reveals new image from “Toy Story 5”: “The whole gang will return”

In celebration of 30 years of “Toy Story”, which had its first film released in 1995, a panel at D23 brought together important names from the production to talk about the franchise.

Jonas Riveraproducer of Pixarwho has been with the company since her internship, spoke to the Brazilian women Carol Moreira and , Mari Palma on successful films.

In the chat, Rivera recalled his beginnings at .

“I was very happy to have a job, on my second day – I will never forget this – I was the last one in the company, I was the ‘new guy’ and they showed the first scene of the film, the birthday scene and I almost cried”.

Soon after, he said in relation to other Pixar employees: “They will have a hard time getting rid of me.”

“Everyone contributes at Pixar and that happens over the years”, he quoted when saying what still remains at Pixar over the years.

Regarding Toy Story, he also mentioned that he didn’t know that the sequels would happen and said that they are organized to create a story and not an idea of ​​continuity, at least at the beginning. “The most important thing about sequels is revisiting old characters and introducing new characters as well.”

Brazilians involved in the “Toy Story” franchise also participated

Two other Brazilians also participated in the panel, they are Pixar animators and contributed to “Toy Story”.

Priscilla Vertamatti He says he has always been a fan of Disney and in 2012, he did an internship at Pixar. In addition to the franchise, she also animated, in 2015.

Claudio de Oliveirawas responsible for Garfinho, a character who came to life in the fourth film of the franchise. “We can be very creative with the little we have”, he mentioned when portraying the word that the character speaks most in the film, with different nuances: “Trash” or “trash” in Portuguese. In the original version, the person responsible for bringing the character to life is actor Scott Clark.

In the panel, he says that he made different Forks, to see what expressions the character could gain in the film and in addition to showing one of them to the audience present, Cláudio revealed that he still has some at home.

Finally, he mentioned that it is important to bring the Brazilian touch to his animations, with warmth and touch between the characters. Priscilla, in turn, said that she was influenced in her work by Maurício de Sousa and is grateful to the professional for that.

At the end of the panel, Rivera also gave some spoilers for “Toy Story 5”, which will be released in 2026.

“The whole class will come back”, he said. Next, the producer mentioned that the characters’ job is to be there when their children need them and, in this film in particular, he also mentions the competition for children’s attention with technology.

To the delight of fans, he also showed a new image from the film, where several dolls were displayed on the sand, coming out of a container.

D23 Brasil is a global expansion of the experience held since 2009 by The Walt Disney Company’s official fan club, D23.

The name “D23” carries a special meaning, with the “D” standing for Disney and the “23” referring to the year Walt Disney opened his first studio in Hollywood in 1923.
