This Saturday, coach Dorival Júnior called up defender Léo Ortiz, from Flamengo, and striker Gabriel Martinelli, from Arsenal, for the Brazilian team’s next commitments in the World Cup qualifiers. They replace Éder Militão and Rodrygo, who were injured in Real Madrid’s 4-0 victory over Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The most serious case is that of Éder Militão, who ruptured the cruciate ligament in his right knee and will miss the remainder of the European season. Rodrygo suffered a muscle injury to his right thigh and is expected to return to the pitch in a matter of weeks.

Chosen by Dorival Júnior to replace Militão, Léo Ortiz received his first chance with the current coach. This is the third time he has been called up – the previous two by Tite -, but he has not yet managed to debut with the Brazilian team’s shirt. His name being present on the list is even a surprise, since the chosen one was Fabrício Bruno.

Martinelli has constantly appeared on Dorival’s list, having even played in the Copa América. He has already defended the national team on 14 occasions and scored two goals.

With the cuts, Dorival Júnior continues to suffer from the cuts since he took over the Brazilian team. There have already been 17, which means that the coach never has in his hands what he considers to be ideal.

The Brazilian presentation will take place on Monday. On Thursday, he will be in Maturín to face Venezuela. On Tuesday, the 19th, the challenge is against Uruguay, at Arena Fonte Nova, in Salvador.

Brazil is fourth in the Qualifiers, with 16 points, behind only Argentina (22), Colombia (19) and Uruguay (16).

Check out the call below with the changes made by Dorival:

Goalkeepers: Bento (Al-Nassr), Ederson (Manchester City) and Weverton (Palmeiras)

Sides: Danilo (Juventus), Vanderson (Monaco), Abner (Lyon) and Guilherme Arana (Atlético-MG)

Defenders: Léo Ortiz (Flamengo), Gabriel Magalhães (Arsenal), Marquinhos (PSG) and Murillo (Nottingham Forest)

Socks: André (Wolverhampton), Andreas Pereira (Fulham), Bruno Guimarães (Newcastle), Gerson (Flamengo), Lucas Paquetá (West Ham) and Raphinha (Barcelona)

Attackers: Estêvão (Palmeiras), Igor Jesus (Botafogo), Luiz Henrique (Botafogo), Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal), Savinho (Manchester City) and Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid)
