With content aimed at market leaders, the 7th edition of IT Day took place in São Paulo, an event that brings together innovation directors in a day full of networking and lots of information. With the theme: “The future was yesterday”, which seeks to bring human beings to the center of the conversation, the meeting once again surprised the participants. “As with every event, we bring a theme of reflection on paradoxes of technology and human behavior. This time, we address the speed at which things are happening versus the harm of this speed where human beings are unable to truly connect to what they are looking for, as a purpose in life”, explains Bira Padilha, CEO of Grupo BGB, creator of IT Day .
With each action, decision and idea, we are shaping the future scenario, but have you ever stopped to think about your purpose in life? Are you connected with your actions now or do you live on automatic? These issues were debated for a whole day, marked by great connections and extremely relevant content for the moment, exclusively for technology managers. “We have as pillars some key themes such as: data, analytics, digital transformation, people management, career development, soft skills, as well as other topics of extreme relevance for technology leaders. It is necessary to understand that, deep down, relationships are always between people and people. Human beings like and need people. He also seeks to differentiate himself, and that may be the big problem, trying to be different without understanding exactly who we are”, explains the executive.
Among the lectures presented, highlights include cases on the use of AI in complex operations and in the areas of health and television; the discussion about the future of a technology director’s career; and also the aspects about the moment of career transition and how to avoid this phase being too long. “In my opinion, balance is the basis for successful adoption of any new model in society. The technologies that exist often serve to solve problems that have not yet been created and, from time to time, do not seem to have much applicability. The more human beings evolve, the greater the need to turn to self-knowledge and understand their needs and desires, in order to make better use of the scenario as a whole.”
Even with a background in software engineering, Bira says he specializes in people, and this is one of the reasons that led him to create IT Day. “I say I specialize in people because I really like dealing with people. I started working early, at 12 years old, in a stationery store. Today I am heading one of the largest technology groups in Brazil, and that is a victory” he reveals.
At the request of the column, the executive exclusively listed the 5 most common mistakes in managing a company:
- Put technology ahead of people and the interests of humanity;
- Not having the humility to recognize that, sometimes, less mature people can have more brilliant ideas than yours;
- Not understanding when to continue betting on an idea: you need to understand when time is up;
- Not identifying the so-called “human skills”, which are the personal skills of a professional, and not making the so-called cultural alignment;
- Don’t put the customer at the center of the conversation: everything must be done with their best interests in mind.
