In an assembly that approved the employer’s proposal last Friday (8), metalworkers protested against the possibility of and stated that the minister (Finance) wants to put the benefit on Black Friday.
The tracks were extended during a meeting of the Metalworkers Union of São Paulo and Mogi das Cruzes.
President of Força Sindical, Miguel Torres criticizes the articulations involving the benefit and states that such a change could not happen in a government (PT). One would be paid by the employer to the dismissed employee.
“It’s very worrying. We know the difficulties we have in , because it is a very conservative Congress. Imagine the government sending a PEC (proposed amendment to the Constitution) or a complementary bill authorizing some cuts. How will this come back?”, questions.
They sent a letter this week to the Lula government asking for a conversation about the revisions studied, but have not yet received a response. “I’m not saying that there shouldn’t be corrections, that there shouldn’t be spending control, but we are taking it from those who need it most, the worker.”
Torres says that if the proposal is sent with changes to unemployment insurance, there will be a reaction from workers. According to him, a possible change is to regulate a provision in the Constitution that says that the financing of unemployment insurance will receive an additional contribution from the company whose workforce turnover rate exceeds the average turnover rate in the sector.
“Those who lay off the most, those who rotate the most, have to contribute more to the social protection system for the unemployed. There are things that can be done”, he argues.
