He considers the accusations to be absolutely unfounded.

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday called the accusation of an Iranian man, who, according to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), had the task of planning the assassination of the newly elected President Donald Trump, as “absolutely baseless”. This was reported by the AFP agency, from which TASR took over the report.

Iranian ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei added that the ministry “rejects allegations of Iran’s involvement in any assassination attempts, whether against former or current US officials.”

Shakeri should have received an order from a representative of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards

The US Department of Justice reported on Monday that the Iranian Farhad Shakeri was tasked with preparing a plan to track and then kill Trump on October 7 of this year. He should have received the order from a representative of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

The US Department of Justice identified 51-year-old Shakeri as a member of the Revolutionary Guards with a residence in Tehran. It said he immigrated to the U.S. as a child and was deported around 2008 after a robbery conviction. The prosecutor’s office specified that Shakeri is at large and is probably in Iran.

“There are few actors in the world that pose as serious a threat to the national security of the United States as Iran,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement.
