The president (PT) stated this Wednesday (6) that the fall he suffered in the bathroom last month resulted in a “very strong hit” to his head and that he thought he “had cracked his brain”.

The PT member highlighted that he will continue to undergo periodic MRI exams and is also taking many medications for prevention. And he added that he considers a blow to the head to be a very serious problem.

The statements were made in an excerpt from an interview with RedeTV! released this Wednesday. The full content will air on Sunday (10).

The president described what the fall was like, while cutting nails. He lost his balance and fell off a bench, hitting his head. He ended up hospitalized and needed stitches, in addition to suffering a small hemorrhage. Therefore, he needed to undergo exams throughout the week.

“I fell from where I should never have fallen. See, I arrived at 4:30 pm on Saturday, at home, coming from São Paulo and I sat down to cut my nail, I cut my nail, I filed my nail, sitting on a stool that I always sat on And behind the bench I was sitting on there is the mirror, the drawers where they store things and a large whirlpool, 1.5 meters high. I was sitting”, described the president.

“When I went to put the case away, instead of moving with the bench, I just moved with my body. The concrete fact is the following: there was no more space and then my butt didn’t levitate. So I fell and hit my head. It was a very strong blow, a lot of blood came out, I thought I had cracked the brain, cracked the hoof”, he added.

Lula then reported that he was taken directly to the Brasília unit of the Sírio Libanês hospital. And then he reported that he had the perception that it was something “much more serious”

“I thought it was something much more serious. The crash messed with my brain, I’m having an MRI every three days. Now I’m going to do one last one, not one last one, do one on Sunday to see if I’m 100% cured”, said the president.

Lula acknowledged that his doctors advised him to avoid long flights, so he decided to cancel all his air travel. Palácio do Planalto initially reported that the suspension sought to prioritize other agendas, such as the G20 summit, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro.

“At the same time, I’m taking a lot of medication for prevention. I’m going to take care of myself until the doctors say ‘you’re fit again’. Because the head knock is always a very delicate thing. The doctors tell me it takes about 15 days 20 days, up to 30 days to really know the effects that the fall caused. And I’m fine, I’m working normally. I can only say that the crash was very strong”, he added.

Because of the accident, the president canceled his trip to Kazan, Russia, where he was to participate in the US summit. His medical team advised against taking long flights.

Since then, he has undergone periodic MRI scans. In one of the last, at the end of October, he reported that the agent was still able to carry out his activities in Brasília.
