The MPSP (Public Ministry of São Paulo) did not recommend that Palmeiras be punished with the loss of 50 points in the Brazilian Championship due to the ambush by its fans against Cruzeirenses, on Sunday (27), in Mairiporã (SP). A post with false content began circulating after the attack, which left one person dead and 20 injured.

Currently second in the competition, the club has 61 points, three less than the leader, Botafogo. The penalty would make Abel Ferreira’s team fall to 20th and last place in the table and, consequently, be relegated — which should not happen.

The lying post features a montage simulating a report from Globo Esporte, which did not publish the content.

In a note released on the 27th, the Public Prosecutor’s Office stated that Gaeco (Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime) would investigate the episode against the Blue Mafia bus, but there is no record that the body has requested the removal of points from the team from São Paulo. In contact with the report, the MPSP stated that the information in the post is incorrect.

The body recommended that the organized fans Mancha Alviverde, responsible for the attack, be prohibited from entering stadiums in the state of São Paulo. This Wednesday (30), the FPF (São Paulo Football Federation) announced the ban, following the ministry’s recommendation.

Furthermore, the Court also ordered this Wednesday the arrest of the president of Mancha Alviverde, Jorge Luís, the vice-president, Felipe Matos dos Santos, and four other members for their involvement in the case.
