The driver of a car lost control of the vehicle this Saturday on Fabra i Puig promenade, at number 184, in the Porta neighborhood, in the Nou Barris district of Barcelona, and ran over several passers-by. Sources from the Guàrdia Urbana explain that the accident occurred due to a health problem of the driver, who unintentionally drove the car onto the right sidewalk of the promenade. Nine people have been injured in the accident, two of them were traveling in the car, and seven are pedestrians. Of the injured, one of them is very serious, four have a serious prognosis and four have minor bruises – among which, the driver and a minor who was traveling in the vehicle that has climbed onto the sidewalk.
The accident occurred around 6:19 p.m. in the afternoon, when this driver lost control of the steering wheel due to a health problem. The Fabra i Puig promenade is a busy road in the Nou Barris district, and right at that point it is halfway between the Virrei Amat and Fabra i Puig metro stations, so there is a certain influx of people.
The car, in which four people were traveling – two of them were unharmed – ended up colliding with street furniture on the sidewalk, according to some passers-by who witnessed the accident on social media. In a publication on X (formerly Twitter), the Guàrdia Urbana has highlighted that the accident was not intentional, but caused by a health problem.

Seven ground units of the Emergency Medical Service (SEM), three of them medicalized, have been sent to the scene of the incident, as well as 12 crews from the Barcelona Fire Department, 13 from the Urban Guard and members of the Mossos d’Esquadra. The accident has forced traffic to be diverted towards Meridiana Avenue.
The nine injured have been transferred to health centers: the man in critical condition has been transferred to the Vall d’Hebron Hospital, as well as two women in less serious condition; two women in serious condition, to Hospital del Mar; and two other women in serious condition and a man in less serious condition, to the Sant Pau Hospital, to which the minor has also been transferred, in mild condition.
