The former president of Mancha Alviverde Paulo Serdan spoke out this Friday (11) about the ambush of Cruzeiro residents on the Fernão Dias highway, in Mairiporã, last Sunday (27). He classified the situation as “sad” and criticized the use of iron bars in fan fights.
“I don’t agree with this situation that persists today among organized fans. Business with iron bars and other things. What logic does it have when one person is lying on the ground and the other is hitting the head with an iron bar? So, like that, I continue I don’t agree with this, I still don’t understand this and I still find it deplorable. It’s not just an issue with Mancha, it’s an issue with organized fans in general,” he said in a post on Instagram.
He highlighted that the investigations are restricted to organized fans and not to the Mancha Verde samba school, of which he is president, and that they are “entities with different CNPJs”.
Six Palmeiras fans have arrest warrants, including the president, Jorge Luís, and the vice-president, Felipe Matos dos Santos. The attack on two buses containing Blue Mafia fans left one dead and around 20 injured. Motorbike courier José Victor Miranda, 30, was attacked and suffered burns to his body, according to the PRF (Federal Highway Police), responsible for policing the road. One of the attacked vehicles was set on fire, and the other was vandalized.
The action would be revenge for a confrontation between Mafia Azul and Mancha Alviverde on the same road in September 2022. On that occasion, Sampaio was brutally beaten. Belongings, such as documents and Mancha cards, were stolen and displayed by Cruzeiro fans in stadiums like a trophy.
A historic figure among Palmeiras fans, Serdan mentioned that first fight. “As I said in the video there, when it happened at Fernão Dias, two years ago, it was inevitable and the universe knew that one day something would happen. The universe knew that.”
“In fact, whoever is today in a damned hypocrisy, wanting to portray themselves as a saint or something… We know all the fans, right? Forty or so years in this world of fans, we know everything. At some point, Someone always did something really big and maybe it was in the past, a lot of people don’t remember, but I remember everything. So, it’s less too, right?
Serdan said that the scenes of violence seen were “not cool, not cool.” “I think it happened a little bit, he lost his hand, right? Unfortunately, we had a death, we had a death. Unfortunately, that’s not good for anyone, right? In all the years I’ve been a fan, I’ve seen a lot of friends leave and it’s not cool, it’s not cool, you don’t celebrate that, right?
