The reason would be that the country will wait for both Israel and Hamas to demonstrate a willingness to negotiate
Qatar will suspend its attempt to broker a ceasefire in Gaza and a hostage release agreement, according to the Reuters. The reason would be that the country will wait for both Israel and Hamas to demonstrate a willingness to actually negotiate.
The Middle Eastern country has been working alongside the US and Egypt for months in fruitless negotiations between the conflicting sides in Gaza.
Qatar has told Hamas, Israel and the US government that it would be willing to resume its role as negotiator if the parties involved in the conflict “demonstrated a sincere willingness to return to the negotiating table with the aim of putting an end to the war”a Doha official told Reuters.
Doha also concluded that the Hamas political office in the city “no longer serves its purpose”.
Neither Hamas nor Israel have officially responded to Qatar’s decision. However, 3 Hamas officials told the Reuters that the group was not informed by Qatar that its leaders were no longer welcome in the country.
