Ranking of the best chefs in the world features Brazilians Alex Atala and Manu Buffara

The Best Chef Awards 2024, a list that brings together the best chefs in the world, brought two Brazilian representatives in its highest category, The Best.

Alex Atala and Manu Buffara are on The Best list, symbolized by three knives, made up only of chefs who achieve 80% or more of the maximum possible score, “indicating high-level culinary mastery”, as the award page explains.

Alex Atala, 56 years old, runs the DOM restaurant, located in São Paulo, while Manu Buffara, 41 years old, is responsible for Manu, located in the capital of Paraná, Curitiba.

The best chefs in the world, according to The Best category, are:

  1. Rasmus Munk – Danish, owner of the Alchemist restaurant (Copenhagen)
    2. Albert Adrià – Spanish, owner of the Enigma restaurant (Barcelona)
    3. Eric Vildgaard – Danish, owner of the Jordnær restaurant (Gentofte)

Three and two knives

Brazil had more representatives in the World Class category, with two knives, which means world class status, granted to those who achieve 40% or more of the maximum score; and in the Excellent category, for a knife, for chefs who obtain 20% or more of the maximum score, representing excellent culinary skills.
