Right-wing leaders and parliamentarians saw our victory as strengthening Bolsonarism in Brazil for 2026. The Republican was elected with a majority not only in the electoral colleges but also in the popular vote.

Early in the morning, the former president (PL) released a message congratulating him. Hours later, he released a long text on social media, in which he said: “May Trump’s victory inspire Brazil to follow the same path.”

“Maybe soon God will also grant us the chance to complete our mission with dignity and give us back everything that was taken from us”, said the former president, who is ineligible until 2030.

As shown by , Bolsonaro’s allies believe that the Republican’s victory will increase pressure on the (Supreme Federal Court) to reverse the former president’s ineligibility.

This scenario, however, would depend on a series of decisions and articulations. Still, the tone of hope permeated other Bolsonaro allies and right-wing party leaders.

Senator Ciro Nogueira, national president of the PP and minister during the former president’s administration, said that Americans voted for Trump because there was no improvement in their lives during Joe Biden’s government and that the response from Brazilians will come in 2026.

Senator and general secretary of PL Rogério Marinho was more blunt, saying that the American election could have an impact on the former president’s ineligibility, without explaining how.

“Trump’s election strengthens the fight for freedom and right-wing conservative values, I believe that common sense and justice will prevail and Bolsonaro will be able to contest the elections in 2026,” he said.

PL president Valdemar Costa Neto, in turn, said that Bolsonaro will increase his supporter base with Trump’s election.

Leader of the party in the Chamber, Altineu Côrtes (RJ) declared that the election result represents “a victory for conservative values”.

“Here in Brazil, we are firm in our fight for God, country, family and freedom. This achievement strengthens us and reinforces the hope that in 2026 it will be our turn, alongside Bolsonaro, to return to Brazil the values that the nation need,” he said in a post on social media.

Former president of the evangelical group, Sóstenes Cavalcante (PL-RJ) said that Trump’s victory will strengthen Bolsonarism in the country, in addition to increasing the chances of reversing Bolsonaro’s ineligibility, allowing him to be a candidate.

Privately, more pragmatic allies of the former president admit that they see it difficult to see a change in Bolsonaro’s legal convictions, even with Trump’s election.

The assessment, however, is that, in the Legislature, the right-wing Bolsonarist movement as a whole is gaining strength and that this could help to reverse the ineligibility with the support of parliamentarians.

One of the names being considered for Bolsonaro’s eventual succession on the right in 2026, the governor of , (Republicans), shared a photo of the attack suffered by Trump during the campaign.

“Trump elected! We start the day celebrating the victory of conservatism, patriotism, prosperity, freedom. We look to the United States with hope as we see the conservative movement overcome one of its most challenging obstacles,” he said.

On social media, Bolsonaro supporters also explored the president’s declaration of support () for Kamala Harris last Friday (1st), especially the mention he made of the existence of Nazism with “another face” in the world when criticizing Trump.

This Wednesday (6), the PT member congratulated the Republican on his victory and wished him good luck. “Wishing the Nazi government luck?” said (PL-SP). The congressman traveled to the United States in recent days to follow the elections and was at the club where Trump followed the count.

Three central leaders in the Chamber heard by the report minimize any impact that Trump’s election could have on the House. They say that this fact gives encouragement to the mobilization of Bolsonaro parliamentarians in the House, but they reject that this will change the day-to-day life of parliament or guarantee approval of a possible amnesty for Bolsonaro.

Members of left-wing parties reject any connection between the Republican’s victory and the Chamber. Leader of the government in the House, José Guimarães (PT-CE) says that the result “does not interfere in any way with the agenda” of the House and denies any impetus to Bolsonaro’s eventual amnesty. “There will be no amnesty! This has been priced in. Not even the Chamber will [aprovar] Not even the STF accepts it.”

Leader of PC do B, Márcio Jerry (MA) says that the American election will have an impact on the political debate, in the plenary and on the platform, but not on the institutional agenda of the Chamber. “This will not make the Brazilian extreme right neither stronger nor weaker. It gives subjective encouragement, speech and preaching, but it does not [influencia] the agenda and political agenda of the House and the country.”
