The requests, authored by councilor Rubinho Nunes, were addressed to the presidents of 2 concessionaires, accused of abuse, poor application of services and non-compliance with contracts
Approved, on Wednesday (6.Nov.2024), the summons of 2 concessionaires responsible for the administration of municipal cemeteries and crematoriums to provide information on the conditions of conservation and amounts charged for the provision of funeral services. It also invited the (Public Services Regulatory Agency of the Municipality of São Paulo).
The documents summon Ricardo Gontijo Vivian, CEO of , and Maurício Costa, CEO of the Cemeteries and Funeral Services Concessionaire. The CEO of SP Regula, João Manoel da Costa Neto, was called as a guest.
The requests were authored by councilor Rubinho Nunes (União Brasil), president of the House’s Urban, Metropolitan and Environmental Policy Committee. “There are countless reports of abuse, poor application of services and non-compliance with contracts. It is our duty, as councilors and as president of the Commission, to monitor and X-ray what is happening in these companies”said the councilor at the time.
“The invitation from the CEO of SP Regula was also approved for him to come to the Chamber to inform the terms of the contract that led to the concession, to audit these companies and bring, especially in sad and tragic moments such as funerals, peace of mind for families paulistanas”he added.
Councilor Silvia Ferraro (Psol), from the Feminist Bench, expressed support for the approved requests. “We are seeing that it is a complete disaster. The service is terrible, of poor quality, and, in addition, it is charging high fees, including fees for people who are on the Single Registry (CadÚnico), who should not be paying anything for this service”, highlighted at the time.
