The federal deputy (-SP) assesses that the election of us will influence the correlation of political forces in Brazil, favoring his father, (PL).
In an interview with Sheetthe son of the former president states that the victory of the Republican, who obtained a majority in the vote and could increase his ascendancy over the American Justice system, could put pressure on the (Federal Supreme Court) and other Brazilian authorities to
“Certainly the Supreme Court will be less comfortable pursuing prosecutions.”
Eduardo is in Florida, where on Tuesday (5) he followed the counting of votes at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s resort, together with the president-elect, with Elon Musk, owner of X (former), and leaders of .
The deputy also assesses that the fact that Trump achieved a majority in the Senate makes it easier for those who have violated the freedom of expression of American citizens, presented in September, by two Republican congressmen.
The proposal Behind the project is the idea that the judge violated the American Constitution by suspending X and blocking user profiles.
Reason for victory
The federal deputy states that the left “distanced itself from reality and became very connected with these metacapitalists, who have a fragrant speech, but who do not connect with the masses.”
“So, for example, you will talk about carbon emissions, global warming, the woke agenda [forma como é chamado o discurso de pautas identitárias nos Estados Unidos]. This is far from the guy who is experiencing his problem of high crime rates in some cities, health problems, job creation and inflation. Inflation was the determining theme.”
Effect of the election for Brazil
Eduardo states that Trump’s victory “has a total impact” on the country. He states that, in addition to winning the election, Trump achieved a majority in the Senate, should obtain a majority in the House of Representatives and has a conservative majority in the Supreme Court.
“I would say that the impact is much more in the power that the United States will now have against the abuses of authorities sponsored by a STF minister [referindo-se a Moraes, sem mencioná-lo].”
According to him, the new configuration of the American political scenario, with Republican control of the Senate, “makes it completely feasible to approve the project that aims to remove visas from foreign authorities who do not respect the freedom of expression of Americans.”
“This fits perfectly with the recent case of X, in which there was a fight between Elon Musk and certain Brazilian institutions.”
At the STF, ministers privately state that Trump’s return to the White House will have no consequences in the Brazilian Judiciary in relation to the convictions imposed on Bolsonaro in the investigations already advanced, such as the one dealing with the coup plot. The ministers, however, understand that political pressure for amnesty granted through the .
Brazil could repeat US history
In the interview, Eduardo drew a parallel between the trajectories of Trump and Bolsonaro, saying that the two won elections “with unlikely circumstances” and lost reelections, “alleging a lot of suspicion in the electoral process.”
“Trump returned. He was persecuted, indicted, they jammed a lot of lawsuits into him, threatened with arrest. It’s the same story that happens with Bolsonaro. If Trump came back here, then there’s a chance of Bolsonaro going back there. Certainly the Supreme Court You’ll be less comfortable pursuing things. Because, let’s be honest, I don’t have any other word to use.”
He also said: “Setting the Federal Police to get the vaccine card from the president, who has just left power. This has a clear objective, which is to kill a spontaneous movement led by Bolsonaro. So, how did Trump resist, if the Bolsonaro resists, it is already in people’s imagination that he can be a viable name, yes, for 2026.”
Reversal of Bolsonaro’s ineligibility
Former president Bolsonaro is ineligible until 2030 after being convicted by the (Superior Electoral Court) for abuse of political and economic power and misuse of the media after broadcasting and electorally using the event.
Regarding the hypothesis of these convictions being reversed, Eduardo said: “It was impossible to get Lula out of jail, clean him up, make him eligible. Yes, that was impossible.”
According to Eduardo, there is no alternative today to replace his father in the race for President in 2026, and Bolsonaro “is plan A, B and C”.
“Why is Bolsonaro ineligible? Because he met with ambassadors? Because he got on a sound car and spoke, a sound car that was paid for by the [pastor] Silas Malafaia, and then he was convicted of abuse of political power? Lula was convicted of money laundering and corruption. So, yes, I believe it can be reversed [a inelegibilidade].”
Amnesty
The deputy defends the project being discussed in Congress that proposes amnesty for those convicted of January 8th. Asked if this would not exempt them from responsibility for the attacks on the headquarters of the three Powers, he considers seeing it as a crime, but not an attempted coup d’état. He said “no shots were fired and no weapons were seized.”
“The convictions are totally exaggerated and absurd. Now, is there any responsibility? Yes, you will have to individualize the conduct and that person will have to answer for it. But as the intention, once again, is not to make a fair trial, but to make people afraid of speaking out in favor of conservative people, Bolsonaro, the right-wing, arbitrary arrests are taking place.”
