Arrested on February 8, the former advisor to former president Bolsonaro was released on August 9 after Moraes’ order

(PL), son of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), said on Friday (8. Nov. 2024), in a post on social media, that Donald Trump’s victory in the United States elections will help resolve the case by Felipe Martins.

Following a decision by the minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), Alexandre de Moraes, the Federal Police preventively arrested Filipe Martins, on February 8 of this year, in operation Tempus Veritatis.

“There are still many new facts out there. Now not only the House, but the Senate and the US Presidency are with the Republicans (right)”wrote Eduardo Bolsonaro in a publication.

Eduardo said in a video that North Americans’ concern about controlling the country’s border and illegal immigration is related to the case of Filipe Martins. “A false entry of Filipe Martins into American territory was inserted by North American immigration bureaucrats. And this, now that the elections have passed, will come to light through the United States Congress”said the deputy.

Filipe is being investigated for recording an alleged trip he took to the United States in 2022, when he was in Brazil. At the time, Bolsonaro’s then advisor was being investigated by the STF.

According to deputy Marcel van Hattem (New), the US Embassy is monitoring the investigation of the case. “US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed that there was no record of Martins entering Orlando in December 2022 and that his last entry into the US had been in September 2022, through JFK airport in New York. For a long time, inconsistent information served as a basis for keeping Filipe Martins in prison.”said the deputy.

“FILIPE MARTINS’ name also appears on the list of passengers who traveled aboard the presidential plane on 12/30/2022 heading to Orlando/USA. However, there were no records of the former advisor’s departure from immigration control, which may indicate that he fled the country to avoid possible criminal liability. Considering that the location of the person being investigated is currently uncertain, it is necessary to order precautionary detention as a way of guaranteeing the application of criminal law and preventing the person under investigation from deliberately acting to destroy evidence capable of clarifying the circumstances of the facts being investigated.”says the report on Martins’ arrest.
