In March of this year, the São Paulo Public Ministry had signed a plea bargain agreement with Gritzbach. He was considered a “important piece” in investigations into the criminal faction PCC (Primeiro Comando da Capital).

The businessman had committed to contributing to the investigations and “present information regarding the practice of acts of corruption involving police chiefs and police officers”in addition to revealing databases and documents from the criminal faction and helping in the recovery “total or partial of the proceeds or benefits of criminal offenses committed by the criminal association”.

The Special Action Group for the Repression of Organized Crime of the Public Prosecutor’s Office offered, in exchange for the plea bargain, a judicial pardon for the crime of joining a criminal organization and a reduction in the sentence for money laundering, with the imposition of an initial open regime if convicted.
