A diver found a ring lost 47 years ago off the coast of Barbados and returned it to its owner.
UPI reports on this.
In mid-October, Alex Davis was diving with a metal detector off Miami Beach in Barbados. Underwater, he found a ring from McMaster University in Canada. The ring bore the year “1965” and the initials “FMP”.
Davis asked experts to help him find the owner. McMaster University searched a database and found that the ring likely belonged to Morgan Perigo, who had earned a degree in mathematics in 1965.
When contacted, Perigo confirmed that he lost the ring in the ocean during a family trip to Barbados in 1977. “I went into the ocean with my youngest son. He was knocked over by a wave and I reached out to hold him. He pulled my hand and my McMaster University graduation ring went flying,” the man said. – I looked for the ring, but without success”.
David sent the ring to the owner via FedEx, and it arrived on the evening of Perigo’s 83rd birthday. “What a wonderful and unexpected 83rd birthday present,” he said.
