In Switzerland, traveler Sergio Veri discovered a mysterious bamboo cart after walking on a path that was hidden under a glacier in the Alps.
It was reportedly aided by a melting glacier that exposed an ancient road in the area of the Schplugen Pass. This pass connects the Swiss valley of Hinterrein and Splugen in the canton of Graubünden with the valley of San Giacomo and Chiavenna in the Italian province of Sondrio.
It is known from written historical sources that in ancient times there was a road here, which was actively used by people. But then a glacier blocked it. The traveler Sergio Veri became one of the first to cross this road in our times, reports Noi.md with reference to .
He came across a two-wheeled cart. This means of transport was a big surprise to the archaeologists, who did not expect to see a well-preserved wheeled cart made of bamboo poles tied with ropes on the site of a melted alpine glacier.
Bamboo was first introduced to Europe in the late 1700s or early 1800s. However, archaeologists do not rule out that the mysterious cart dates back to the 20th century, although how it ended up under the ice remains a mystery.
The discovery has been handed over to the archaeological service of the canton of Graubünden, which will carry out a detailed examination.
