Celso Araujo Sampaio de Novais was admitted to the ICU of the General Hospital of Guarulhos but did not survive his injuries
This Saturday (9) the death of Celso Araujo Sampaio de Novais was confirmed, who was the victim of a rifle shot during the killing of the whistleblower, Antônio Vinícius Lopes Gritzbach, in , this Friday (8). Celso was admitted to the ICU of the General Hospital of Guarulhos, but unfortunately he did not survive his injuries. Two other people were injured in the incident, a 39-year-old man, also an app driver, and a 28-year-old woman, who has already been discharged and provided a statement to the police.
Police are investigating the case and have seized three vehicles in connection with the shooting. Two of these vehicles were used to escort the businessman, while the third was allegedly used by the shooters, who remain at large. Four military police officers, hired for escort, were removed after the attack. At the time of the crime, three of these police officers were at a gas station near the airport, alleging mechanical problems with the vehicle. Only one police officer was at the terminal to look for the businessman.
The investigation, led by the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP), is analyzing possible intentional errors by the police officers and has already confiscated the cell phones of those involved to check their communications before the crime. In addition to the vehicles, backpacks containing firearms were found approximately 7 km from the airport. The Public Security Secretariat reported that three backpacks containing two 7.62 rifles, a 5.56 rifle, a 9 mm pistol, a license plate, chargers and ammunition were seized.
