“At the invitation of President Joe Biden, President Biden and President-elect Donald Trump will meet in the Oval Office on Wednesday at 11 a.m. (local time). More details will be released soon”, says the note signed by the White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre.
Biden’s gesture contrasts with the stance adopted by Trump four years ago, when there was no meeting for the government transition and the period was marked by tension between the opponents ─ including the Republican alleging, without ever proving, fraud in the election. The height of tension occurred on January 6, when supporters of then-President Trump invaded the Capitol, the seat of Congress, in Washington.
