Governor of Goiás also reinforced dissatisfaction with the public security PEC presented by Lula
The governor of Goiás, (União Brasil) criticized the federal government this Saturday (Nov 9, 2024) by Antônio Vinícius Lopes Gritzbach in , which took place on Friday (Nov 8).
“The attack was committed at Guarulhos International Airport. An area under federal jurisdiction. A crime possibly the result of an accusation about money laundering involving drug trafficking, which also falls under the jurisdiction of the federal government.”said Caiado on X (formerly Twitter).
For Caiado, the case is “an opportunity for the Lula government to give a tough response to the factions”.
In the publication, Caiado also reinforced the public security PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) presented by the government last week.
“For this you don’t need a PEC or tying up the state police”, he stated.
UNDERSTAND THE CASE
In March of this year, the (Public Ministry of São Paulo) signed an agreement with Gritzbach, who was considered an “important piece” in the investigations into the PCC (Primeiro Comando da Capital).
Gritzbach had promised to reveal the “hierarchical structure, division of tasks and modus operandi” of the faction’s money laundering scheme, as well as “to present information regarding the practice of acts of corruption involving police chiefs and police officers”.
However, the businessman was killed in an ambush upon arrival at terminal 2 at Guarulhos Airport. Three others, not involved in the accusation, were injured.
PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE
In an event held on the 4th (6.Nov.2024), leaders of União Brasil confirmed Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil) as a candidate for the 2026 presidential race.
The party president, Antônio Rueda, stated that the governor has all the “predicates” and “many conditions” for the dispute.
“I have no doubt that the security issue will be the main debate of the 2026 presidential elections. Our pre-candidate for president, Ronaldo Caiado, has a case, a successful model implemented in Goiás”, declared Bruno Reis, re-elected mayor of Salvador (BA).
