Timão won the fourth consecutive victory and managed to move well away from the relegation zone; Garro, Yuri Alberto and Memphis were the black and white highlights

Corinthians moved further away from the relegation zone of the Brazilian Championship by beating Vitória 2-1, in Salvador, in the 34th round. The team from São Paulo achieved an important turnaround after falling behind on the scoreboard due to a mistake by goalkeeper Hugo Souza. Highlights include Garro’s assists, which were decisive for Yuri Alberto and Memphis Depay’s goals. With the victory, Timão reaches 41 points, three more than Vitória, who are also fighting to stay out of the relegation zone. Both teams will have a break due to FIFA Data and return to the Brasileirão on November 20th. Corinthians will face Cruzeiro, at the Neo Química Arena, while Vitória will visit Criciúma.

The arrival of the Corinthians team at the Barradão stadium was marked by scenes of violence, with the team bus being stoned by opposing fans. A glass was broken, but no players or members of the coaching staff were injured. At the beginning of the game, Corinthians controlled possession of the ball when Hugo Souza, trying to pass inside the area, ended up handing the ball to Alerrandro, who opened the scoring for Vitória. Despite the error, Corinthians remained calm and, with good offensive movement, balanced the match.

The equalizer came in a well-worked play between Garro, Yuri Alberto and Memphis Depay. The Dutchman found Garro at the edge of the area, who spun and left Yuri Alberto in a great position to finish with his left leg, with no chance for goalkeeper Lucas Arcanjo. Vitória tried to react, but without success, and Corinthians took advantage of the gaps. Mosquito had the chance to punish his former team, but Hugo Souza made a save and made up for his mistake.

After adjustments made by Ramón Díaz, with the entry of Coronado, Timão became more offensive, occupying spaces better and creating good opportunities. Garro, once again, made a precise pass that found Memphis in the area. The Dutchman did not waste anything and scored the turning goal. In the final minutes, Vitória increased the pressure, but Corinthians defended well. Hugo Souza stood out in the area when he intercepted the balls thrown by the Bahian team, guaranteeing the result and keeping the São Paulo team away from the immediate risk of relegation.
