Czech singer and presenter Marta Kubišová (81) was part of the singing trio Golden Kids together with Václav Neckář (81) and Helena Vondráčková (77). In the sixties and seventies, they were among the top performers on the scene, together with the legendary Karl Gott († 80). In Honza Dědek’s show 7 falls, Marta recalled this period, writes the editors.

In 1970, Kubiš’s career came to a halt when she was banned from performing. She became an inconvenient person for the totalitarian regime. One of her sayings was: “We are no stars, we are just shining misery.” As she herself mentioned, some actresses rebelled because of this, but she still considers it the truth. “For example, when we went to festivals abroad, we had to have a costume made. I bought the fabric, I had it for that one, but I had to borrow the money to sew it. I didn’t have that“, she revealed.

At that time, however, the Golden Kids were among the highest paid singers together with Gott. “Only Karel Gott and we had 1200 kroner for the concert, which was fantastic money for that time. They also told us at the Pragoconcert not to do wrong, that we shouldn’t have them either,” revealed Kubišová’s secret.
