The president was released for air travel, according to a medical bulletin released this Sunday (10) by the press office of Palácio do Planalto. Lula was unable to fly for weeks because of a blow to the head on October 19. He had to cancel international trips, such as going to the Brics summit.

The release comes on the eve of the Brazilian president’s participation in the meeting, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro. Lula is expected to leave for the city on Wednesday night (14). There will be public appointments on site from the following day. The medical bulletin was produced after the PT member underwent a new examination at the Sírio-Libanês hospital unit in Brasília. The document is signed by the hospital’s director of Clinical Governance, Rafael Gadia, and the clinical director, Luiza Dib. According to the published text, the president has no symptoms.

“The exam showed improvement in relation to the previous ones, and he should continue his usual activities, with authorization for air travel”, states the medical bulletin. He is accompanied by doctors Roberto Kalil Filho and Ana Helena Germoglio. Last week, Lula publicly explained how he was injured, in an interview with RedeTV. He was cutting his nails sitting on a stool and lost his balance when he went to put away the instruments used to cut his nails. “It was a very strong blow, a lot of blood came out. I thought I had cracked my brain, cracked my shell. I went straight to Sírio-Libanês, I thought it was something much more serious”, declared the PT member at the time.
