BEIRUT – Israeli airstrikes over the past day have killed more than 20 people, including several children, Lebanese authorities said Saturday, after Israeli bombings hit the southern suburbs of the capital Beirut during the early hours of the morning.
At least seven people died in the coastal city of Tire on Friday night, Lebanon’s Health Ministry said. The Israeli military previously ordered areas of the city to be evacuated, but there were no posts by Israel’s military spokesman on Platform X before Friday’s attacks.
The Ministry said two children were among the dead. Rescue work is ongoing, and other human remains recovered after the attack will undergo DNA testing to be identified, the ministry added.

Israel has been fighting battles against the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah since October 2023, but conflicts have increased dramatically since the end of September this year. Israel has intensified and expanded its bombings, while militants have launched more daily rocket and drone attacks against Israel.
The group, which is supported by Iran, announced more than 20 operations this Saturday, in addition to an action its fighters carried out the day before against a military products factory south of Tel Aviv.
