The National Archaeological Agency was contacted, after fragments of clay pots were found during the works in a household, announces the archaeologist and general director of the agency, Vlad Vornic.
While digging a pit, the resident of the village of Enichioi, Ion Burdulescu, came across archaeological remains. The mayor of the village contacted the National Archaeological Agency, which started the excavations and came to the conclusion that “these fragments of burnt clay vessels date from the early Middle Ages, more precisely the X-XI century” – declared Vlad Vornic.
“These ceramic remains, which can be reassembled, were found inside a kiln. Very likely, it is a ceramic firing installation, a pot firing furnace. Next to this furnace, we have another sunken complex, which reaches almost 3 meters and which could be a sunken dwelling” – the archaeologist states.
“It is obvious that it is a new important discovery for medieval archeology and the first archaeological discovery in the village of Enichioi. The vestiges are to be processed, introduced into the scientific circuit and included in a museum, for example, the district museum of Cantemir”.
