Thousands of kilometers for a minute: Ronaldo's fan pedaled for seven months to see his idol

A young man from China, named Gong, traveled by bicycle from China to Saudi Arabia for seven months to meet his idol – soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo.

Gong, 24, began his journey on March 18 from eastern China’s Anhui province. During this time, he traveled to Kazakhstan, Georgia, Armenia, Iran, Qatar and several other countries until he arrived in the Saudi capital Riyadh, where Ronaldo is. In some countries where food prices were high, he ate bread. Gong used a translation program to communicate with the locals. In August, in Armenia, the man had a high fever and collapsed on the side of the road. He was sent to hospital for free treatment.

The idea of pedaling to see his star came to him after Ronaldo canceled his trip to China due to injury in February.

In total, Gong traveled 13,000 kilometers to see him.

All he took with him were two 60,000 mAh batteries, a tent, cooking utensils, clothes and a few essentials.

On October 20, Gong met Ronaldo in front of Al Nassr Football Club, fulfilling a childhood dream. Gong stated that he was very happy to see his idol with his own eyes.

According to the boy, during the meeting with Ronaldo, which lasted about a minute, the footballer shook his hand, hugged him, signed a shirt with the number 7 of the Al Nassr club and a banner with the names of Gong’s friends. Gong said his next destination will be Ronaldo’s hometown in Portugal.
