The operations took place in the province of Sistan and Baluchistan, where nine other terrorists were arrested.

On Sunday, Iranian armed forces killed at least three terrorists during battles with an Islamist group in the southeast of the country. TARS took the information from the AFP agency.

“During operations in Sistan and Baluchistan province, three enemy terrorists were killed and nine others were arrested,” the official IRNA news agency said.

Ten policemen were killed after the attack by the Islamists

Around 15 militants have been killed since the October 26 Islamist attack that killed ten police officers. The Sunni jihadist group Jaish al-Adl (Army of Justice) based in Pakistan claimed responsibility for the October attack.

Sistan and Baluchistan, which borders Afghanistan and Pakistan, is one of Iran’s poorest provinces and one of the few predominantly Sunni areas in Shiite-dominated Iran. The province has been plagued by unrest for years, involving gangs of drug smugglers, insurgents from the Baloch minority and Sunni extremists.

The Jaish al-Adl organization, which was founded by Baloch separatists in 2012, is designated by Iran and the United States as a terrorist organization.
