With votes still being counted, Republicans have already secured 212 seats for the house, which has 435 members, according to a projection from Edison Research
WASHINGTON – The Republican Party was, this Saturday (9), close to securing control of the United States House of Representatives ─ something essential for President-elect Donald Trump to advance his agenda when he returns to the White House in January 2025 .
With votes still being counted, Republicans have already secured 212 seats for the house, which has 435 members, according to projections from Edison Research. The company projected Friday night that Republican Jeff Hurd already has enough votes to maintain Republican control over Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District.
Republicans now need six more seats to maintain control of the House after they won enough victories to take the Senate from Democrats, although Edison projected Friday that Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen will be re-elected in Nevada.

With Trump’s victory in the presidential election and control of the Senate already decided, retaining the House of Representatives would give Republicans great powers to advance their agenda of spending and tax cuts, deregulation of the energy sector and changes to border controls.
There are still 19 House races that have not been decided, most of them in competitive districts in western states where vote counting is typically slower than in the rest of the country.
Ten of the seats are currently held by Republicans, while nine are in Democratic hands.
