Philosopher and writer Luiz Felipe Pondé said that the election of Donald Trump represents a significant change in the traditional political dynamics of the United States. He also criticized the press’ media coverage of the American elections.
“Trump represents a process of renewal culture in the USA. He led the right to represent the lower social classes. Etook him, in a way, the right to that territory that the left can no longer communicate with”, he stated.
The statement was made during participation in the program WW Especialwith William Waack, which will air this Sunday (10), at 10pm, on CNN Brazil.
Criticism of media coverage
Pondé spared no criticism of the press, stating that “most of the media covered this election in a miserable way”. He noted that discussions about Trump often began with personal attacks, compromising the objectivity of the coverage.
The philosopher highlighted that Trump managed to communicate with a segment of the population that felt neglected.
“He paid a lot of attention to those little customs, to that life in small American towns that was left aside, that is seen as not important, of ignorant people, that no one listens to, that everyone considers outdated,” he explained.
When asked about the future of politics in the US, Pondé suggested an “attentive, careful renewal”. He emphasized that he does not see the current situation as a scenario of despair or depression, but rather as a moment of political transformation.
