Ukraine has launched its biggest ever drone attack on Moscow. Two airports were closed

Ukraine attacked Moscow on Sunday with at least 25 drones, forcing authorities to temporarily close two of the city’s airports.

The announcement was made by Russian officials. This was the largest Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian capital to date, reports Reuters.

The mayor, Sergey Sobyanin, said that the drones were destroyed in the Ramenskoye and Kolomenski districts of the Moscow region, as well as in the city of Domodedovo, located southwest of Moscow. The Moscow region has a population of over 21 million.

“According to preliminary information, there are no damages or victims in the places where fragments” of drones fell, Sobianin said on Telegram. “Emergency services are on the spot,” he added.

The Ramenskoie district, located about 45 km southeast of the Kremlin, was last targeted in September.

Rosaviatia, the Russian federal air transport agency, announced on Telegram that “to ensure the safety of civil flights, temporary restrictions have been introduced on the operation of Domodedovo and Zhukovo airports”, starting at 05:30 GMT. It did not specify how long the restrictions will be maintained.
