A window is a great thing. It brings light into your apartment and, for the curious, a nice view outside.
“I love bright rooms with big windows! They are more airy and you don’t feel like you’re in a dungeon,” says Světlana from Prague, who had modern, double-walled windows installed.
What’s more, such windows normally let in enough light and at the same time prevent drafts, which is especially appreciated in the winter months, when it’s hot and the gas or electricity bills are high.
The author of the video, Kutil Adam, will advise you on how to reduce the humidity of the windows in the car. More on the channel YouTube.com.

Kitchen and bathroom risk
This season also often fogs up the windows. “The windows are the coldest place in the apartment in winter. Then when the warm air inside meets the cold surface of the window glass, it creates fogging. The worst situation is in rooms like the bathroom or kitchen.
During cooking or showering, the air becomes more humid and thus the windows fog up,” explains the expert, adding that when there is high humidity outside, it can even cause frosting on the windows, which is then a trigger for mold. What about that?
Rules of ventilation
Prevention against fogging of windows is classic ventilation. Thanks to it, there is an exchange of air in the room and thus also a decrease in humidity. “Ventilate every day, even if it’s cold or frosty outside. You don’t have to ventilate for a long time, it’s enough to open the window fully and let the air “ventilate” properly, recommends Mrs. Monika from Kroměříž, who has been troubled by foggy windows for years.
In order for the effort not to lose its effect, it is necessary to learn how to ventilate properly: It does not have to be long, just burst ventilation for five minutes. It is important that you open the windows fully and let the air out a little, recommends Mrs. Monika from Kroměříž, who had fogged windows for a long time. But in order for this magic to work, you need to pay attention to three principles.
First: Ventilate in the morning after waking up and in the evening before going to bed.
Second: Open the entire window for ventilation. In no case do not use micro-ventilation or tilt-up ventilation! Ventilation would be extremely slow, and the “collision” of warm air from inside and cold outside would only encourage humidity.
And for the third good thing: Try to maintain an optimal temperature – around 22 °C.
Beware of drying clothes!
Don’t you have a clothes dryer at home and do you dry your washed tops in your apartment? This godly activity can cost you dearly. According to experts, drying laundry in the room increases the humidity of the air and thus contributes to the formation of fogged windows. If you can, try to dry wet tops somewhere else – in a drying room, on the balcony or in the backyard.
Clean what you can
According to research, moisture also takes hold where there is dirt. “If your windows are permanently fogged up, try to wash them regularly. You will improve your view and at the same time prevent water from settling on the glass,” recommends the expert.
Replace the gasket
Dew on windows, especially on older ones, can be caused by them not sealing well. “I recommend using porous seals made of polyethylene foam or rubber, which strengthen the window frames, but at the same time allow some of the moist air to get out,” recommends the expert.
Make your own dehumidifier
A large concentration of moisture tends to be on the walls. It helps to make your own dehumidifier. How to do it: Get a box and make several holes in the lid. Then pour table salt, chalk or silica gel into the container (usually available in small bags with shoes). Silicate litter for cats also works in a similar way, which absorbs moisture very well,” recommends an expert who solves fogged windows in the cottage.
