Považskobystrica city policemen rescued a senior woman who fell into a ditch and remained trapped there for more than six hours. TASR was informed about this by the spokeswoman of the city, Iveta Pagáč Kováčiková.

A woman’s call for help in the Zemiansky Kvašov area was reported to the city police by a resident via line 159. officers found an elderly woman trapped. She couldn’t get out of the trench. The patrol freed her leg from the mesh and helped her to her feet,” described the Chief of the Municipal Police (MsP) of Považská Bystrica, Juraj Lieskovský.

In addition to the fact that, according to him, the woman could not move independently, she was disoriented, dehydrated and hypothermic, that’s why members of the MoP called for quick medical help. The senior woman was in the ditch for more than six hours. “She was returning from the forest already in the dark and probably wanted to shorten her journey, since she lives in a nearby housing estate. Construction work is being carried out in the area where it fell, so the accident happened quickly. If not for the citizen who informed us of this fact, and also for the timely intervention of the patrol, it could have ended tragically” added Lieskovský.

In this context, the town hall reminded that the sunny weather is an attraction for many who often go for a walk in the afternoon. “However, shorter days and earlier darkness should not be underestimated. Citizens who go into the forest should not forget their mobile phone. At the same time, they should know the locality in which they move. If they plan to return in the evening, they should also have a flashlight with them,” recommended Pagáč Kováčiková.
