The number of people traveling to and from São Paulo fell 62.4% in two years. Data released by reveals that, between September 2nd and October 6th of this year, 276 cases of robbery were registered in the areas of the 3rd Campos Elíseos Police District and the 77th Santa Cecília district. In comparison, in the same period in 2022, the number of robberies was 736, indicating an almost 40% reduction in the crime rate. This decrease in theft cases is accompanied by a drop of approximately 28% in theft records in the region.
Security forces, including the military police and civil police, have intensified their actions, carrying out extensive patrols and periodic operations in areas known for drug trafficking and feared by residents. One of the most recent operations, called Rescue Requalification, took place on September 25 and resulted in the identification of 115 offenders with judicial restrictions. The vice-governor of São Paulo, Felício Ramuth, who coordinates the government’s actions in the central region, highlighted the visibility of the results of the measures implemented for those who frequent the center of the capital.
