Maria Violante and António Coelho, Marco Paulo’s compadres, moved to the singer’s farm in Mem Martinson the outskirts of Sintra, for over 30 years. There they were part of their lives together and it was the farm where the SIC program ‘Alô Marco Paulo’ was recorded, which welcomed the couple’s son, Marco António, since he was a baby. The child would become the singer’s beloved godson, whom he always treated as if he were his own son – .

Even though she never lost contact with the artist, her partner’s divorce, around 25 years ago, led her to seek other places. Maria Violante has now come forward to clarify what led her to leave Marco Paulo’s farm. “We have always supported Marco Paulo in everything, Marquinho’s father and I have been divorced for 25 years, but we are friends. He needs help, I help, I already needed him and he helped me. We are a family”he began by highlighting in statements to TV7 Dias.

Maria Violante ended up leaving her son in the care of her ex-husband and Marco Paulo, afraid of not being able to have the necessary conditions to care for her son with dignity. “It would be difficult for me, alone, to work, support and take him close to me, near drugs, places where I was afraid there were drugs (…) It was complicated”justified the publication.

Despite not living with her son, Maria Violante guarantees that she was always present in Marco Antônio’s life, and that she would have spent several nights at the singer’s mansion to be able to be close to the then boy.
