Bluesky gains 700,000 new users after the US election

The social network has gained more than 700,000 new users since the elections, won by Republican Donald Trump. Users from North America and the United Kingdom helped the competitor (former Twitter) reach 14.5 million profiles, compared to 9 million in September, according to the company. The billionaire’s social network – which supported Trump’s campaign – lost millions of users after changing its brand from Twitter to X. Use of the platform in the US also fell by more than ⅕ in the subsequent 7 months.

Bluesky is in 2nd place, behind , in the social network category on the Apple Store in the USA. The e-commerce platform reached 275 million monthly active users in November, compared to 200 million in August.

Bluesky also gained 3 million new users in the week after X was in Brazil, and another 1.2 million in the 2 days after the former Twitter announced that it would allow users to view posts from people who blocked them.
