Petr Fiala evaluates the phone call with the elected American president as excellent, Andrzej Duda promised to meet with Donald Trump even before the inauguration.
Prime Minister Robert Fico called Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential elections a defeat for liberalism. While political leaders from neighboring countries managed to boast of a phone call with the new head of the White House, who will take office in January 2025, Slovak politicians are still silent about a possible phone conversation with the US president.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi spoke to Trump on the phone last week.
Trump’s memories of Prague
“Excellent phone call with Donald Trump,” Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala praised the conversation with Trump on Monday evening. He congratulated him on his election victory and they talked together about Ukraine, Israel and the Middle East.
“We also mentioned his late wife Ivana and talked about the president’s memories of Prague,” adds Fiala, adding that he is already looking forward to close cooperation.
Polish President Andrzej Duda also managed to boast about his phone call with Trump this afternoon, to whom the US President-elect called on the day when Poles celebrate Independence Day. Exactly 106 years ago – on November 11, 1918, Poland regained its independence.
Poles are “already preparing for Trump’s visit”
Donald Trump is expected to take the presidential oath on January 20, 2025. Duda has promised to meet with the old head of the White House even before the inauguration. Duda and Trump have not yet agreed on a specific date. During the meeting, both countries are expected to deepen mutual ties and cooperate even more closely.
Through Dudu, Trump thanked the Poles living in the USA for voting for him. According to the Polish president, Trump said that Poland will never forget it.
Poles are already speculating that one of Republican President Donald Trump’s first foreign trips in office could lead to our northern neighbors. An opportunity could be, for example, Warsaw taking over the presidency of the Council of the EU next year.
