A flight bound for the capital of Port-au-Prince was hit by gunfire this Monday (11), forcing it to divert to the neighboring country, the Dominican Republic.
Spirit said in a statement that it was damaged and taken out of service upon landing in the northern Dominican city of Santiago.
A flight attendant was injured in the incident, Spirit said. THE Miami Herald reported that the flight attendant was grazed by a bullet. No passengers were injured, Spirit added.

A video circulating on social media — which appears to have been made by a Spirit employee but could not be immediately verified by Reuters — shows marks from a bullet near the rear exit door that struck the luggage compartment on the other side of the aisle.
All flights arriving and departing from Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince have been suspended, according to the Herald.
